About the Test
Yes. The Danish theory test (teoriprøve) is available in English at all digital test centres run by the Danish Road Traffic Authority (Færdselsstyrelsen). You choose your language when you start the test on the touchscreen computer.
The test consists of 25 scenarios (images or short videos). Each scenario has 2–4 yes/no sub-questions, making the total number of individual answers around 70–80. You have 25 minutes to complete all scenarios.
You can have a maximum of 5 incorrect answers across all sub-questions. If you get 6 or more wrong, you fail.
The test fee is 600 DKK per attempt. If you fail and need to retake, you pay 600 DKK again.
Fully digital. You take it on a touchscreen computer at a Færdselsstyrelsen test centre. Scenarios use images and 3D videos, and you tap yes/no for each sub-question.
The main topics are: right of way (vigepligt), traffic signs and road markings, speed limits, roundabouts, hazard awareness, vehicle knowledge, first aid basics, and environmental driving. See our complete study guide for detailed breakdowns.
Yes, there is no limit on retakes. You must pay the 600 DKK fee each time and book a new appointment. Depending on your test centre, rebooking may take days to weeks.
Yes. You must be enrolled at an approved Danish driving school (køreskole). Your school registers you for the test — you cannot book it independently.
Right of way (vigepligt) questions are the most commonly failed topic. People who've driven in other countries often get confused by Danish-specific rules, especially the right-hand rule and the obligation to check for cyclists when turning right.

KørApp is currently available for iPhone (iOS) only. An Android version may be available in the future.
Most people need 2–4 weeks of dedicated practice. We recommend doing at least 20 full practice tests and consistently scoring 20+ out of 25 before booking the real test. Check out our tips page for more study advice.
About Getting a Danish Licence
EU/EEA licence holders can drive legally in Denmark with their existing licence. However, if you want to exchange it for a Danish licence, you can do so at Borgerservice for 520 DKK — no test required. See our expat guide for details.
For someone going through the full process (non-EU): expect 14,700–21,000 DKK total, including driving school (12,000–18,000 DKK), first aid course (600–900 DKK), theory test (600 DKK), practical test (890 DKK), and licence fee (520 DKK). See our expat guide for a full breakdown.
You must be at least 17 years old to take the theory test for a category B (car) licence in Denmark.
An IDP is valid for tourists and short-term visitors. Once you establish residency (get a CPR number), you have 90 days to exchange your licence or start the Danish licence process. After that, the IDP is no longer valid for driving in Denmark.
